How my life has changed
By becoming fitter and loosing the weight that I have to date, I am getting the confidence back in how I look and feel. Every area of my life has improved by doing this, I am more focused on my goals and more determined to reach them in my personal, physical and working life.
What keeps me motivated
The fight to look great and for the first time in my adult life to feel comfortable in my own skin.
How my personal trainer has helped me
She has helped me no end. I would not be so determined or equipped to reach my goal (for that matter to even reach where I am today) if I did not have her encouraging me to push my limited and to strive for new heights. She is a motivator and her passion for her work and fitness is infectious. Rather than working out being a chore, it becomes a part of your life that you cannot live without and it actually becomes enjoyable. There are times when you feel you can't do something or you just feel plain tired, it is at this point that it is extremely important to have that external motivator to encourage you to keep going, to keep you on track and most importantly to keep you accountable. Without have this kind of support, it is just too easy to just give up or say you will do it another time - and you will probably find that that time does not come.

When my partner got pregnant, I got pregnant too. I managed to put on 9kg over the term of her pregnancy and then struggled (unsuccessfully) for 2years to get it off again.
I would start an exercise/diet routine only to peter out a few days later, then 2 or 3 months would go by and I would attempt it again and fail again. I couldn't understand what was happening but looking back, the combination of being older and my life much busier due to the arrival of my Daughter had sapped my drive and motivation. For two long years I struggled with this until I admitted to myself that I could not do this on my own.
Ann and the team at Tailored fitness were fantastic. They created training sessions for me that were fun to participate in and the motivation was poured on. I found that I could not wait to get down to the studio and get another session in. This and the excellent advise on diet from Ann was all I needed to get the kilo's flying off and I was soon back to my goal weight. Ann developed a plan for me that included, not only 1 on 1 Personal training sessions and group sessions but also exercise while away from the Studio and a great healthy eating plan that was easy to follow and didn't leave me feeling hungry. My body fat % is down, my lean muscle mass is up and I look and feel better than I have for a long, long time.
I cannot thank Ann and Tailored fitness enough, if it wasn't for them I would still be running around without any real goal, motivation or an organised program that would get me where I wanted to go.

Having let things go over 2008 I resolved at the beginning of 2009 to lose 15kg and get my BMI down to 28. Whilst I had immediate success though improved diet and increased exercise, I began to plateau towards the middle of 2009. I had significant exposure to weight training during my twenties and whilst playing contact sport, and recognised the benefit this could bring to achieving my goals. In July 2009, I reset my goal to focus on increasing strength and maximising body fat loss, and contacted Ann to see if she was up to the task.
Ann constructed a challenging programme that has kept me interested, motivated and pushed to the limit. The excellent knowledge of exercise and muscle mechanics has resulted in training sessions that "test" the same muscle groups in varied ways – key to ensuring that the muscles (and the trainee) don’t get complacent. The constant encouragement and enthusiasm ensure that I still look forward to my regular training regardless of how stiff I feel the following day!
The results speak for themselves: in a little under six months I have dropped my body fat from 32% to 23% and score well above age based norms in all strength tests. And there have been unintended consequences too - I have also reached my initial weight loss and BMI goals, haven’t needed a chiropractor in the last three months and can now cycle without knee pain!
I can’t recommend Ann and the team at Tailored Fitness highly enough.

Getting fit and losing weight is something I often thought of, whilst sitting on the couch watching TV. I'd see an add or watch a TV show and think "Yeah, I could go for a run right now, I used to run all the time, I'm sure I could do it". And then I'd get up and eat some ice-cream, or go to bed.
I'd have good days when I thought I looked really nice, and I would walk out of the house with confidence, drive to work and arrive with a smile on my face… And then I would see my reflection and realise how very wrong I was. I was huge and there was no denying that.
I didn't understand it. I wasn't lazy, I ate healthy meals, didn't drink any soft drinks or much alcohol and I worked hard at my job all day. I didn't deserve this!
I met Ann through a friend of mine that was a client of hers. My friend was adamant that Ann could make a difference in my health and I was still reluctant, for many reasons. 1) I was too embarrassed. 2) I didn't have any runners or gym clothes. 3) I didn't have enough time. The excuses were endless and very easy to make.
I managed to put Ann off for nearly 2 months and eventually agreed to attend a spin (cycle) class on a Monday night 6 months ago. I sat on the bike and just managed a reasonably slow, even pace while the rest of the girls where up and down and faster and faster. I just hid at the back of the class and tried not to fall off the bike from dizziness. Ann was all smiles and encouragement and it was the only thing that kept me going. I was back the next week and spinning a bit faster. The week after I was up and down and speeding up with the girls, and the next week there was no stopping me.
Ann helped me arrange a food diary and a calorie counter and we also spent time together every week talking about food options and recipe ideas. It was only then that I realised how very wrong I was with my food, especially portion size and snacks. The food diary made me realise that I was eating for no reason whatsoever. Ann recommended a Kilojoule controlled plan with some other nutritional tips and dietary changes. Now I'm helping others with their knowledge on foods and what that little panel at the back of food boxes really means.
After spin we all take turns to talk about a diet tips and have a good laugh with each other. Ann and the other class members are like therapy. Her trainers have been very positive influences in my life and I like the privacy that Tailored Fitness offers.
I started with more one on one personal training and I'm now attending Spin Class every Monday night and Personal Training every Thursday. I have also started doing Pilates in the Park on Saturday morning and find all 3 complimentary to my needs and goals... that's right, I've actually made a few goals!
See, Ann and her crew didn't just help me lose weight; they were an inspiration for a better life, and a more confident self. Now when I see myself in the mirror I don't notice how overweight I am , I notice how much weight I have lost and how good I look in my clothes. Ann helped me realise that there is a better life for me and showed me how to achieve it.

I have been training with Tailored Fitness for 4 months focusing on weight loss and general fitness. With a combination of group fitness classes, one on one personal training and a new perspective on nutrition I have achieved my goal weight, which I haven’t been for over 10 years. Tailored Fitness has helped redefine the way I exercise and taught me how to enjoy a balanced lifestyle to maintain my new weight. The sessions are always fun and I have now reset new goals which I am confident I will again reach. I wish I had joined them sooner.
